My attempts at being fitter

Me, Nathan and Mom went on a 1.25 mile jog last night. I haven't worked out hardly at all this summer and it was hard! Two days ago we jogged 1 mile without stopping. I think it took 12:51, which is reallllllyyy slow. Ugh. We didn't stop to walk. If we could, I wanted to go 1.5 miles without walking but we just stopped at 1.25. We went late, it was dark, and there are no streetlights in our dumb neighborhood, and it's muggy and humid, but it was fun. I run best when I'm talking so I was blabbing the whole time to my mom and brother.

I want to run a 5k so bad! I think we're going again tonight and we'll try to go 1.5 miles. When we got home we all went swimming, it is soooo nice to have a pool! It was so refreshing. They have all these cool Color runs, and Glo runs and Halloween runs and I want to do one so bad! One mile seems like such a long way though, and 3.1 sounds impossible to me right now! But I'm going to keep progressing!

Day 48 Of No Washing

(I wasn't going to post this, I was going to keep it as a draft for my own personal use, so I can keep a record of my face hopefully improving, but I decided to post it because maybe it can help someone else. These pictures are really hard to post on the internet. I might end up taking this down.)

On June 25, 2013 I stopped washing my face. The only products that have touched my face are organic extra-virgin coconut oil, raw, organic honey, organic raw apple cider vinegar and sunscreen.

My 15 year old brother has acne too and I realized that his face and my face were about the same as far as severity of the acne went, except he never washes his face. He doesn't do anything. In fact he doesn't stress about his acne, doesn't even think about it.

Yet I always wash my face and my face hurts and gets really really oily. And his doesn't.

Then I came across some articles about the "Caveman" acne regimen. Basically you stop washing your face with creams, cleansers and soaps and just leave it alone. The regimen stems from the idea that when we wash with soaps full of chemicals (benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid etc.) from the store, it strips our face of its natural oils, so our glands compensate by making more oil! It made sense to me so I tried it.

48 days ago:

I took these photos seconds apart and didn't edit them at all.

Today:

Pictures on left are from June 25, 2013. Pictures on right are from August 12, 2013.

Right side of my face:

Left side of my face (above).

I don't wash my face with my Neutrogena or Burt's Bees face cleansers anymore.

It took a few days for my face to get used to the fact that I wasn't stripping it of oil anymore. My face actually was super oily the first few days and it was really gross. But now my face doesn't get oily hardly at all.

If I wear makeup, I wash it off with coconut oil. Apple cider vinegar makes a good toner. Two days ago I started applying raw honey on my face for 20 minutes a night and then washing it off. I have also been drinking an apple cider vinegar tonic 1-3 times a day before meals. It's supposed to help regulate blood sugar and purify the blood, which might be helping with my acne too.

It's surprising to me that my face is actually getting better. I no longer have painful, irritated white heads and the redness is going down. My face no longer hurts and all the red dots I still have are not raised and hard like they used to be.

Obviously my face really has a long way to go to being clear, but I believe in this method. It has been doing immense wonders so far.

Schtuff

I just purchased the 50mm 1.8 on Amazon, a brand new one. And I'm kind of feeling stupid about getting it. I should be saving my money. But I really have been wanting it. I know I don't need it. But I think it will take my photography to the next level. Plus, from reviews and stuff, it's a great portrait lens and my friends want me to do their senior photos before I leave! It will probably be here soon, I can't wait!

This is really bad but I'm already eyeing this 8mm fish eye lens. Need to start saving again!

I'm all signed up and registered for my classes for the Fall! Eek! I'm leaving in less than a month! Like what the heck?!

Sometimes I feel so happy about going to Rexburg that I cry tears of happiness. Seriously. I cannot wait. There is an apple orchard. On campus. Right next to one of my classes. And it's open til the end of November. 50 cents a pound. LIKE CAN I ALREADY BE THERE?

oh and there's MOUNTAINS! I can't wait to go on hikes! it is so flat here!

Studio C is having live tapings! I wish I lived in Utah so I could go!!

I literally idolize the Pioneer Woman. Like is there anything she cannot do? Seriously.

Miami Zoo

We had fun at the zoo today. It was so hot. We rented a 6 seater bike and drove all around. It was quite a sight. The gorillas were so cute, it was signing with its trainer and pounded his chest!

10 Random Things

1. I danced ballet for seven years, until I tried out for my middle school's soccer team and did that instead. Now I don't do either, so there you have it.

9. It freaks me out how accurate my horoscope is. I mean I'm not superstitious and all that, but it really is so true!!

10. I've always been self conscious about my eyes but they're a feature I get complimented on often.

I took this from Hannah.
