On Thursday, hours before the premiere of Part 2, Nathan and I went through my mom's huge basket of cookie cutters. Looking for shapes we could relate to Harry Potter.

There was a train - The Hogwarts Express.

A castle - Hogwarts.

A ghost - Nearly Headless Nick.

A pumpkin - Hagrid's pumpkin patch or pumpkin juice.

A wolf - Remus Lupin.

And letters to spell out - HP, HARRY, ALBUS, SNAPE, RON etc.

We were going to make sugar cookies. But never got around to it. Typical.

But check out this cake.

Holy amazing.

was that too much Harry Potter for you? i'm sorry.

Let's Finish This The Way We Started It

Ohmygosh. I still can't believe it. Harry Potter is over.

My grandma is a retired reading teacher. When I was in 4th grade, she gave me the first four Harry Potter books.

They sat on my bookshelf for a long time, untouched. I was really into The Babysitter's Club at the time.

I forget how, but one day I took the crisp, clean copy of The Sorcerer's Stone off of my perfectly organized bookshelf and began to read.

I was hooked.

Harry, Ron and Hermione became my best friends. When they were sad, I was sad. When they were happy, I was happy.

When I got through books 1-4, my mom bought me The Order Of The Phoenix online. On a summer day, it came in the mail and I about died of excitement. I ripped it open, scurried upstairs to my bedroom, immersed myself into the wizarding world, and was scarcely seen by my family for a week.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2

The last HP movie. My first midnight premiere. 12:01am.

Before I bought my ticket my dad said, "Are you going to be able to stay awake for the movie?".
Um...hello. Yes I will!

I couldn't help but get the feeling, on the drive to the theater, that it was our last trip to Hogwarts. Our last ride on The Hogwarts Express.

At 11:30pm, the movie theater was packed. I was shocked.

I couldn't help but feel connected to all the HP fans there. We had all grown up with the series, all laughed and cried while reading the books. Everyone was dressed up. People went all out. Scarves, wands, cloaks, lightning shaped scars, Harry's glasses. It was amazing.

This was it, the very last movie for the very last book. I could feel my heart pounding, I had butterflies in my stomach, I was so excited.

The movie was so amazing. It was intense. It was epic. I loved every single second. It was perfect. Absolutely perfect. It had me in tears at some points, laughing in others, on the edge of my seat. I didn't want to blink, for fear I'd miss something. It was such a beautifully made movie.

Me, Austin and Amy cried. I'm pretty sure we're die hards.

When the credits came up, we all just sat in our seats. Still trying to take it all in. It was seriously the best movie I've ever seen. I want to go see it again.

Bird Is The Word

Today I wandered out to the backyard with my camera in-hand and Chipper trotting up ahead of me.

Do you see me?

Beautiful, vibrant red.

The intricacy of his feathers!

Favorite shot of the day. He was looking right at me, love his (her?) beautiful, orange beak. And the 'fro.

Lizard hunting.

Chipper's favorite activity.

An extremely fast and furious woodpecker. I love his red head and his amazing feathers.

Sweet little faces on these birds.

My blueberries-to-be!

To get all the photos of the birds, I was constantly hiding behind trees, being as still as possible, then waiting for them to flock to the bird feeder. I also got to use my camera's amazing zoom.

Summer So Far

1. I just got back from the mall with my friends. We sniffed all the candles in Yankee, went UP on the DOWN escalator, strutted around in the most ridiculous high heels we could find, squealed over the Harry Potter display in Hot Topic, ate "waffle fries" at Chick-Fil-A and busted out to the radio on the way home.

2. I have never been to a midnight showing of a movie. That's why I must go to the midnight premiere of Deathly Hallows Part 2! It's my last chance to be crazy and go to a movie at 12am with a bunch of oddly dressed, over excited, wand-bearing Harry Potter nerds. I'll fit in so well. I cannot wait!

3. My neighbor has these mushrooms growing in her yard. They just sprung up on their own and they're so big. Florida's weird like that. If it gets hot + rainy + humid enough, fungi will start to grow. I want to eat them, but they could be poisonous? I love mushrooms sauteed with onions.

4. Speaking of hot + rainy + humid Florida, I was going to go swimming today. But our pool was way. too. warm. Our pool is solar heated and my dad let the water get too hot. So I'm waiting for it to get cool and refreshing again.

4. Pinterest is actually really cool. When everybody first started signing up for it, I didn't understand what it was all about. I did not need another social network to become addicted to so I stayed away. Somehow I found myself on Pinterest the other day and just had to sign up. And now I love it and see why everyone else loves it.

Meet Chipper.

I just love that little furball.
